Alexia & David Follingstad | 5 reasons you ROCK just by being a small business owner....
As I have been working on Alexia & David's images, I've been thinking a lot about the life and process of a small business owner. A lot happens in the day in a life of us small biz folks. Some good, some bad. Needless to say, I know, we need a LOT of encouragement. So I've written down 5 reasons why your title. "Small Business Owner",should be officially changed to ROCKSTAR.....so if you're in need of a pick me up, keep reading.
1. You're brave!
I've been in business for myself since 2012. Only 6 years. But it feels more like 60. I think business owners age like dogs! I still remember the day I finally decided to journey out into the unknown (to me) world of small business. It was like jumping of a cliff into the beautifully terrifying sea below. It took MAJOR guts. I want to tell you. You who are either just about to take the first step in following your small biz dream, or you who have already taken the first step and are about to take the second one, how brave you are. Just by taking this first step and saying yes to your dreams, you're braver than you know. I know it looks too big right now. I now things may not be clear. But by just even taking the first step you can say that you tried. That you didn't just let your dream die off as an idea. You step towards it with guts and gusto. Wherever you are, whatever you are pursuing, stop right now and say to your self "Look at how brave you are, you crazy beautiful small biz owning maniac!" And be PROUD of yourself.
2. You have vision.
Not everyone has it. Some try to fake it. Some try to steal it. But your vision is all yours. You have fully birthed it. It's all you think about. Day and night. You go to sleep building it up in your mind. You dream it. You wake up ready to run after it. It's not like anyone else's. It's unique. It's organic. It's full of the life that is in you. And it's yours. Vision is a must for every small biz owner. We keep it up front and center stage every day and we never let anyone change it or water it down. It's what breathes life into your journey. And because you have vision, you will survive the vast ocean that is industry. You have vision and you rock!
3. You are organized.
Because you have vision. You have so many thought going off in your brain all at once. You have so many balls in the air. So many appointments to remember. So many dates. So many clients, and numbers, and policies, so many everything. You are a master multitasked. The ultimate organizer. You keep it all together. All day everyday. No one else can do this as well as you can. Because you know everything about everything that there is to know about your small biz. This is only up and running because you are the ringmaster of your crazy journey every day. No one else could do it but you. You rockstar.
4. You are innovative.
In your industry, you don't stand alone. There are others out there that are striving to achieve success in the same arena as you. This doesn't upset you. To many others, it's a stumbling block. But to you, it's a challenge. And you look challenges in the eye and give them a little wink. Instead of drowning in an over-saturated field, you are innovative. Imaginative and creative. And not just in how you execute your end product. But in your marketing, your workflow, client outreach and in all aspects of the inner workings of your unique small biz. You remain optimistic because you know that know matter what the climate of your sphere of influence, you can be innovative enough to be successful. And again, you rock.
5. You are resilient.
You aren't naive. You know that not everyone is rooting for you. And this fact doesn't make you lose any sleep at night. Because you have learned the hard way that comparison kills, you know to keep your eyes on your own work that is in front of you. You have figured out that measuring your success by how far you've come and not by someones pretty Instagram post is the key to maintaining your toughness. You have been knocked down. You have failed. You have put your not so best foot forward at times. But you are still standing. Still moving forward. This makes you tough as nails. Resiliency comes with being able to roll with the punches. And you have your best work yet to come because of this. This is your secret superpower.
